WIAW: Eating Through Green Bay and Chicago

by Brittany on March 27, 2013

Happy What I Ate Wednesday!

I’m so excited to finally share our eats with you!  Sorry to drag out our little getaway weekend into 3 posts.  I hope you all aren’t sick of it yet.  ;)

To me, looking for new foodie places is the best part of travel… other than seeing great friends of course!

After traveling either before of after every meal, it was great to freshen up and go out.  This was as good as it was getting…

Yes.. I’m brushing my teeth.  :)

Lets start with dinner and go backwards… saving my favorite meal for last!

Friday night we had dinner at Lambeau Field with a friend.  We ate at Curly’s Pub.

I got grilled Walleye and veggies.  They were so nice to make sure it was allergy and gluten free!  I had also never had Walleye before, but it was very mild and delicious.

Saturday night we ate at the Glenn in a suburb of Chicago.  This was so I could reminisce about my college roommate.  :)

We ended up eating at Jameson’s Charhouse, because I was craving a good piece of salmon.  They gave us a TON of food.  In fact, for the first time ever, Luvy didn’t clean his plate.  I even ate some of his!

My main dish was a salmon salad with fruit.  It was cooked perfectly.

Sorry it is so dark.  They had the mood lighting on.  ;)

These were more on the go type places, and I kept forgetting to take pictures!  However, I did manage a picture of Saturday’s lunch.

It was at The Urban Frog in downtown Green Bay.

I got a big salad massaged with avocado and topped with artichoke hearts, black beans, craisins, and chia seeds.  Delicious!

However, I must say.  They lacked in customer service.  I quickly realized that I was away from the Southern hospitality I was used to!

Snacks were packed and eaten in the car.  They included fruits, celery sticks with peanut butter, dry goji berries, and Love Grown Granola.

Friday and Saturday, breakfasts were packed from home since we were in a hotel and we had places to be.

I took things like fruit, protein powder to shake up, lots of peanut butter, and Love Grown Granola.

For Friday, we had a refrigerator so I took a protein pancake all scrambled up.  It was perfect for my peanut butter!

I know it doesn’t look to pretty..  lol!

Especially when you compare it to the gormet breakfast we had on Sunday with Katie.

After Lauren had recommended Prasino for breakfast so highly, Katie and I decided that is where we would meet up for breakfast.  Neither of us were dissatisfied!

They really cater to gluten free, vegans, and people with allergies!

I ended up getting the Garden Skillet.

And I cleaned my skillet.  To. Die. For.

I also ate some of Luvy’s gluten free and vegan pancakes.  Those were really good too!

I can’t wait to go back!  This was seriously the best meal of the trip.  Hands down.

So there are our eats!

Doesn’t that breakfast make you drool??

What’s your favorite city to eat in? Mine would be Seattle!

What’s the best meal you have had recently?

YES! That breakfast totally DID make me drool, but that salmon did, too ;) I am so happy it was cooked to perfection for you! I HATE getting dried out salmon! YUCK! Well, not yuck, salmon is always good, but getting just barely raw salmon is THE BEST and I cannot help but drool when thinking of it :D

When I was in Boston, I loved every single meal I ate there! Would love to do more traveling, though, so I could eat more tasty food!

Love you sis

We are going to have great food in Utah!

Katie @ Talk Less, Say More March 27, 2013 at 8:42 am

SUCH a good brunch!! And even better company, of course!
I hope you enjoyed your leftover pancake in the car. ;)

Brittany April 9, 2013 at 2:20 pm

Yes! Can I come back already??

Laurie @ Love, Laugh, Laurie March 27, 2013 at 9:58 am

I have never been to Curly’s but it’s a Wisconsin staple, glad you got to experience it! Skillets are my favorite thing to order for brunch!

Ashley @ My Food N Fitness Diaries March 27, 2013 at 10:06 am

Yes, that skillet sure does look incredible! Mmm I just love breakfast. :) And that peanut butter looks so rich and creamy – only the best!

Brittany April 9, 2013 at 2:25 pm

I was thinking of you when I was eating my PB. I need to get some Teddy’s!

Lisa March 27, 2013 at 10:24 am

Yummy eats!
Mmmm…look at that peanut butter! So tasty.
Haha, scrambled protein pancakes are hard to photograph, but what they lack in looks they make up for in taste!
That’s so great they were so catering towards food allergies and intolerances! I love when places are like that.

Laura @ LauraLikesDesign March 27, 2013 at 10:47 am

Cute boots!

Walleye is a staple here in MN!

Brittany April 9, 2013 at 2:26 pm

I loved it! I had never had walleye!

Harsha@HealthyCooking 'N' Fitness March 27, 2013 at 11:28 am

That breakfast looks delicious. My favorite city till now to eat was Austin. They have pretty good vegetarian restaurants and the biryani which I had was the best till date and the falafel wrap.

Brittany April 9, 2013 at 9:26 am

I have never been to Austin, but I’m dying to get down there!

Amanda @ .running with spoons. March 27, 2013 at 11:49 am

It’s a good thing I just finished eating not too long ago or I’d be experiencing some serious breakfast envy! Heck… I still am :P And I love it when places are considerate of allergies and intolerances. It makes eating so much more enjoyable when you don’t have to worry about it making you sick later on!

Brittany April 9, 2013 at 2:26 pm

I know! I think more restaurants are going to have to start being more conscious of this!

Sarah @ The Smart Kitchen March 27, 2013 at 12:03 pm

I wish you would have asked for honey to drizzle on top of your eggs. :)
Also, even if that place had horrid customer service, it IS sort of cool that you can get chia seeds on your salad!

Brittany April 9, 2013 at 2:27 pm

lol! I should have! I have been putting chia on my salads ever since this one!

Emily @ Glitz Glam Granola March 27, 2013 at 2:20 pm

Oohh all your eats look delicious but that last place takes the cake. They catered to people with food allergies AND had gluten-free and vegan pancakes? Um, sign me up!

Matt @ The Athlete's Plate March 27, 2013 at 7:21 pm

Looks like some good eats! My favorite place is NYC :)

Giselle@myhealthyhappyhome March 27, 2013 at 8:49 pm

Okay I totally need to remember to scramble my protein pancakes! I like to have a little peanut butter topping with each bite and that’s a great way to do it!

Brittany April 9, 2013 at 2:27 pm

Yes!! So good!

Nelly March 27, 2013 at 9:30 pm

haha love all the food prep for traveling! SOO essential to make sure when im traveling :)

Brittany April 9, 2013 at 2:28 pm

Yes! It makes traveling so much easier when you have food allergies!

Cait March 27, 2013 at 9:45 pm

I am so drooling over the breakfast!! I loved the food when I went to the South. Comfort food and definitely good service!

Hannah @ CleanEatingVeggieGirl March 27, 2013 at 9:57 pm

Your salad looks amazing!! I love adding artichokes to my salads :).

Jessie March 27, 2013 at 11:36 pm

What’s making me drool is your salad from The Urban Frog!!!

Gina @ Health, Love, and Chocolate March 28, 2013 at 1:01 am

All these Prasino posts have been making me increasingly jealous and wishing we had something similar here! Nut butter and Love Grown are always my go-to travel snacks, they just can’t be beat.

Brittany April 9, 2013 at 2:28 pm

It was sooo good! I can’t wait to go back! I wish we had a place like that here too!

Liz @ I Heart Vegetables March 28, 2013 at 11:28 am

Woahhhh that peanut butter looks drippy and amazing! And I love your boots in the teethbrushing picture ;)

Brittany April 9, 2013 at 2:29 pm

Thanks girl! My hubby got them for me for Christmas 2 years ago!

Meghan@CleanEatsFastFeets March 31, 2013 at 8:57 pm

Oh my word. Your salad and your skillet look am-azing. Yum.

Heather @ Kiss My Broccoli April 1, 2013 at 1:33 pm

Oh wow, that breakfast IS droolworthy! Hard to beat a good bowl of scrambled eggs and crispy potatoes…especially when it comes with a few bites of pancakes on the side! ;) I rarely ever order pancakes when I go out because I’m always disappointed…ugh, the cross I bare being a self-proclaimed pancake queen! Lol

Best city to dine in…ATLANTA!! I’ve been twice and (thanks to Laura) have YET to be disappointed! :D

Brittany April 9, 2013 at 2:33 pm

We have got to road trip together to Atlanta!
