Baby D is growing up too fast.
I knew the day would come one day when I would put him in Mother’s Day Out or a preschool. He is so smart, and he loves to be around other kiddos. Since I’m nursing… all.the.time., he gets bored with me.
So, we started Mother’s Day Out. I cried. Like, ugly cried. I ugly cried in my car for 30 minutes in the parking lot before I could leave him. I’m that mom. He was quite sad when I left him, but he ended up having a great time.
One of the hardest things for me was packing his lunch. I had never had to do that before. I normally just feed him along with me. Most days are a free for all on any leftovers in the house. He never seems to mind.
I’ve never thought about what would be good “finger foods” for him to feed himself. I haven’t had to pack a lunch in about 9 months. His way of eating has changed so much in that time! I came to realize I needed toddler lunch help… and fast!
I started searching, and I found this article on Mode Media and it gave me some great ideas. I thought I would share it with you all.
So far, he is loving roasted sweet potatoes, cheese, chicken, apple slices with cinnamon (Heavens… don’t forget the cinnamon!), orange slices, grapes, raisins, and peanut butter sandwiches. I try not to send the same lunch each week, but let’s be honest… it will probably happen that way.
I can’t wait until he learns to not eat hummus straight but rather dip things into it. He may be the smart one though… 😉
PS.. I have to thank you all for all your sweet words on my last post. I will respond to each and every one of you asap.
What are some of your favorite finger foods to send with your kiddo… or for yourself??
