New Foodie Finds

by Brittany on October 23, 2012

Do you ever get giddy when you find a new product that you just love?  Please tell me I’m not the only weirdo out there…  ;)

Don’t fool yourselves…I know I’m not!  ;)  This past week, I got 3 new gems that I just have to share with you all!

1. Flax milk

I love me some almond and hemp milk, but sometimes I get in a rut.  They had this Good Karma Flax Milk at Whole Foods this week, and I had never seen it before.  When I asked about it, no one had tried it so one of the workers gave it to me to sample!  How cool is that??

I ended up really loving it.  It is more mild than hemp milk.  It goes great in anything, but I don’t like to just chug it like I do almond milk.  :)

2. Goji Berries

These were actually a recommendation from my doctor.  He wanted me to start eating these.  Turns out… I love them!  Usually when I’m told to eat something or do something…  I hate it.  It is my way of rebelling it think.  Ha!

They are a nutritional powerhouse with so many benefits, so I have been trying to sneak them into all kinds of things.  I got the Navitas Naturals brand.  So far, I have had them in my salads, smoothies, on my protein pancakes, porridge, and by the handful!  I hear you can even put them in tea, Meg!

3. Hemp protein

I usually love all things Trader Joe’s, but when I tried their hemp protein I swore off all hemp proteins!  I’m so glad I decided to try the Nutiva brand.  I asked the Purely Twins what brand they recommended, and I can see why now.  It is not gritty at all.

If you can just get over the fact that it turns your food green, then you are golden!

Have any of you tried any of these items?

What are you new finds lately?

Any good recipes using hemp protein I need to try??

**I was not compensated or asked to write these reviews.  They are solely my opinion.

Hahaha I love the comment about the hemp protein. So true. It looks a bit like baby food…or maybe the other end of the baby, if you know what I mean. But it’s good!

I have that same bag of goji berries unopened in my pantry. I already know I like them, and they are so pretty…the question is, why have I not been sprinkling them on everything?

I keep hearing amazing things about hemp! I love the hemp seeds to sprinkle on everything too! I’ve actually never heard of flax milk but I’ll have to keep an eye out for it! Sounds good!

I did NOT like the Trader Joes hemp protein powder either. I think I ended up throwing it away which is nothing that I ever do! :( And I don’t think I’ve ever tried Gogi berries except in my Goji green tea which I love so I assume I’d really like ‘em! :)

i have been dying to try goji berries. they seem so delicious, i am usually not a fan of dried fruit but i heard these are less sugary in taste. i tried the flax milk once and sadly wasn’t a fan. I adore my unsweetened almond milk

I’ve been curious about hemp protein, but haven’t tried it yet. Its it flavorless? I would actually like a flavorless option for when vanilla or chocolate aren’t what I want for a recipe.

I haven’t had hemp protein yet, but I love the other two items! The flax milk is DEFINITELY more mild than almond milk. I don’t think it tastes GREAT, but if you add a tiny bit of stevia, it’s much better!
And I love goji berries. I feel like people either LOVE or HATE them. No gray area!

I’ve read a bunch about goji berries lately and have wanted to try them! This might be a silly question buttt do they taste like raisins? Their look reminds me of them :P

I used to use flax milk in my iced coffee a couple summers ago but then my grocery store stopped carrying it–it was delicious, though!

That flax milk is my fav! Almost as good as tempt unsweetened vanilla hemp milk. Whole Foods was out last weekend :(

I love trying new products! Goji berries rock – I love them in cookies. Used them in my (nearly) sugar-free Granola Cookies and they “fluffed” up nicely in the baking process. Maybe you could make a hemp protein and goji baked something?!

That hemp protein is the BOMB!! Love it! And I always feel like I won the lottery anytime I get “comped” at Whole Foods! It’s like Christmas for a foodie! ;)
