MIMM: Making Time

by Brittany on March 18, 2013

I don’t know how many times I have complained that I don’t have the time to do _____.

Anyone else with me?

I’m so tired of that.  I admit that I love being busy.  I love to have stuff to do and people who rely on me.  However, I think I use my busy-ness as a crutch sometimes.

I have whined and complained that I don’t get enough “girl time” for months years.  Of course, I was legitimately busy during school, but I’ve graduated now.  I think I get in a holding pattern of being busy and not change that mindset.

On the weekends, I’ve been setting everything aside and just living.  It feels marvelous.

This weekend, I trained with my mentor.  So fun!

Met a friend for coffee and talked… and talked… and talked.

Then, I went and hung out with another girl friend of mine.  This was all so refreshing to my soul.

Not only did I hang out with awesome girlfriends, but Luvy and I had a date day.

We browsed around Louisville, went shopping, and went out to eat.

Photo

Thai is probably our favorite to go out to eat.  Simply Thai is our favorite here in Louisville

It felt so marvelous to have a night out with this guy.

and the green curry with vegetables.

The green curry is always our favorite, but I must say that the pineapple curry with salmon is a very close second!

Making sure that I took the time for my friends and Luvy was marvelous.  Even if my google reader is out of control, my floors didn’t get mopped, and my book didn’t get read, it was worth the time spent.

I feel more refreshed and my soul is at ease.

So, that’s what’s Marvelous in My Monday.

What’s Marvelous in Your Monday?

How did you spend your weekend?

Do you have a hard time setting aside time for  the things you want to do?

I was just catching up on your last few posts, and your one about toxic chemicals in our products really struck me! I have been thinking about my lotions, make-up and perfumes lately, but it can be hard to let go of your favorites and purchase the more expensive all natural products. I realize health effects are more important than money, but it can definitely be hard to pull the trigger!

Thanks for sharing and bringing it to my attention! Have a great Monday lady! :)

Yes! I have found a company that is actually pretty reasonable. If you are interested e-mail me. I don’t want to start name dropping and promoting companies on the blog. Ya know?

Sounds like you had a wonderful weekend! Setting things aside for one or two days is no big deal. The floors will get washed another day. Right? Enjoy the time you have :) I spent some time on me this weekend. Felt sooo good!

Yes.. I’m slowing getting to the point where I can let things go and LIVE!

Sarah @ The Smart Kitchen March 18, 2013 at 9:56 am

I am so happy you took time to relax and just LIVE, without obligations or the feeling like there are other tasks you ‘need’ to be doing. The only thing I am sad about is that I could not be one of those girlfriends you were spending time with. :)

Oh, and that I didn’t get a taste of that pineapple curry. PINEAPPLE CURRY?!?!?! Wow.

Totally know what you’re saying about being busy, I’ve actually been really good about not looking too much in the future and allowing myself to rest and not get stressed about the busyness trap I’ve fallen into before. That’s not good for me at all.
Yum pineapple curry! That sounds great!
That’s amazing you got to train with your mentor! You’re looking great my friend!
Pretty marvelous weekend:)

You definitely deserve to enjoy some time to yourself, hun! And it looks like you did just that and had a fabulous weekend :) I spent most of mine holed up at home avoiding the nasty weather. It wasn’t all bad though because I managed to get some baking done and enjoyed a fair amount of taste testing :D

I loveee weekends that include lots of time with my girlfriends and a date with my hubby – hard to beat it! I definitely get caught-up in being busy all the time too but have grown to appreciate the downtime even more so because of it… A day without any plans sounds absolutely marvelous!

I totally understand about not having enough time to do everything you want to do. I also feel like I put it off like you mentioned! I just finished school in December so I’m hoping I will fight my homebody/busy ways for some fun too!

Also, I love Thai! YUM! :)

I love weekends like this! I spent time with my sisters over the weekend, and had a day date with Jordan, and it was so nice!

I have the same issue! I love going out but I always feel like I don’t have the time. You need to force yourself sometimes to make it happen!

That sounds like a fabulous weekend. Girl time, date night and pineapple curry. Yes please.
I’m like you, in the sense I’m always busy or on the go, but I actually started scheduling relax time, whether it be hanging at home, catching up on my DVR, doing a puzzle, dinner with friends. I made it a point to add it to my ongoing list of things to do because relaxing and enjoying life are just as important.

Brittany March 26, 2013 at 12:41 pm

Sounds like you had a wonderful weekend with your friend and your husband! I think sometimes it’s hard not to get bogged down on the weekend with other tasks and we don’t get a chance to enjoy ourselves and those we love. Glad you made time for the important stuff! Oh and that thai food looks DELISH!

Heather @ Kiss My Broccoli March 25, 2013 at 6:58 am

I do the same thing! I HAVE to push myself to do something or I will just keep using the “I’m too busy” excuse forever! I called one of my best friends the other day and we caught up over the phone for about an hour…it’s been MONTHS since I’ve seen her and she only lives about 30 minutes away! We told each other that we would definitely find the time to do something in the near future…hopefully AFTER I can walk and BEFORE I go back to work! :)

Those curry dishes looks great! I’ve only had Thai a couple of times but I LOVE pineapple in it!

We are going to Thai when we get together!!!! You will love it! It is crazy how busy life gets… I hate it!
