This weekend I had the privilege of seeing my dear friend Laura!
She was in for the Kentucky Muscle competition, so I was excited to see her in action.
I’m telling y’all… this girl is ripped. I don’t want her mad at me! 😉
Before the show, Laura, her trainer, and I got to hang out for an hour or so. As we were talking, I realized that for the first time in maybe forever I wasn’t comparing my goals or my body to hers…. and trust me… they are different! 🙂
While the competition was going on, I still found myself proud of what these girls could accomplish, yet still completely content in my own skin.
Over the past year or so, I have increased my calories, decreased my exercise, and gained weight.
One would think that this would cause me to be more self-concious. However, I’m more content and at home in my own body now more than ever.
Maybe that is because I’m getting older? Or because I’m becoming a mom?
I think it has more to do with being proud and confident in you,
Celebrating you for your differences and what makes you unique,
and loving your body for what it can do and how strong you are!
Does this mean I never feel self-concious or compare myself to others??
Absolutely not! I’m going to the gym today, so I will probably re-read this post to myself.
However, I do think we can grow into being more self-confident and love the bodies God has gifted us with.
Always remember to not compare but to honor you and your body in how you eat, how you move, and how you think!
I’m so proud of Laura and her accomplishments! This girl works and trains so hard.
I am beyond thankful that I could hang out and celebrate her. That was the most marvelous part of my weekend!
Head over to her blog to catch more about her competition.
I hope you all have a Marvelous Monday friends!
Do you have a hard time with comparing yourself to others?
Why do you think women have such a hard time with comparison?
